PRESIDIANS ON A JOYRIDE WITH THEIR SPECIAL FRIENDS FROM SPARSH

Our Presidians display time and again that their hearts are benevolent and shouldering. They try to do their bit towards the society with their small gestures which inspire many others to take initiative. With the same intention, the students of Grade VI visited Sparsh Special School - a school for the children with special needs. The students were given a warm welcome by the Sparsh special students through their vibrant smiles and together, they indulged in many interactions & activities like candle making, spinning wheel, etc. They even felt proud to be associated with the NGO Sparsh when they discovered that it has been ranked Number 6 amongst all the special schools across nation. The experience was heartwarming and will surely stay in students’ hearts forever.

FRIENDSHIP DAY: PRESIDIANS CHERISH PRICELESS FRIENDSHIPS

Friendship is the most valuable relationship in the life of a person. No one can feel complete or satisfied about their life without the presence of faithful friendships. On the occasion of Friendship Day, the students of grade 4 embraced this beautiful bond of friendship through a special morning assembly. They depicted it by showcasing a skit on Lord Krishna and his best friend Sudama and then exemplified how a friend in need is a friend indeed. The values of friendship were also represented through a beautiful dance performance. The presentation helped the students understand the importance of true friendship in their life and the day culminated in high spirits as they exchanged friendship bands with their buddies and expressed their love for them.

SCHOLARS OF PRESIDIUM FELICITATED AT ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AWARDS

In an effort to recognize the perseverance and hard work of Presidians in the field of academics, a time-honored academic tradition, the ‘Academic Excellence Awards’ was recently hosted by Presidium Dwarka 16B to celebrate their extraordinary performance in the academic session 2017-18. Our honorable chairperson Mrs. Sudha Gupta graced the ceremony among other dignitaries. She proudly felicitated 166 students from grades 4 to 9 for their overall excellence, subject excellence and 100% attendance. She also congratulated the brilliant minds for their determination which made it possible for  them to achieve the academic milestones that would take the school to new heights. To accentuate the glory and joy of the ceremony a mesmerizing theatre performance on ‘Teacher’s Touch’ was presented, after which the audience relished a spectacular dance performance. The ceremony indeed gave a boost to our Presidians to always aim for bigger and better accomplishments.

APJ ABDUL KALAM MEMORIAL DAY: 'KALAM TUJE SALAAM!'

“To succeed in your mission, you must have single-minded devotion to your goal.” - Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam

Presidium recently paid a befitting tribute to one of the greatest scholars of our nation Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, also known as the Missile Man of India. Dr. Kalam’s contribution to the Defence Research and Development Organisation(DRDO), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and intimate involvement in India’s civilian space programme and military is unmatched. To instill the values of dedication, devotion and perseverance in the young Indians, July 27 is marked as the day of remembrance of the missile man. Presidians hosted a special morning assembly in which they payed homage to the great man through poems and speeches. Short role plays were performed by the students showcasing Dr. Kalam’s various stages of lives, from his childhood days till he became the Missile man of India. Lastly, the students gathered on-stage with the enthusing slogan “Kalam Tujhe Salaam”

ASTRONOMY SESSION: PRESIDIANS EXPLORE THE HIDDEN SECRETS OF SPACE

Presidium Dwarka 16B endorses on various ways of learning by doing. Our young astronomers have been making a mark in the sky by creating celestial grid and sky maps under the guidance of the SPACE team during a specially organised Astronomy session. The facilitator provided knowledge about the  terminologies related to the sky and celestial bodies like the celestial globe, declination points, poles, etc. They also elaborated on the process  of creating a sky grid. The students received hands on experience which made the concept of sky map practically clear. This session drove many young minds to explore astronomy further and take it up as a subject in future.

ASSEMBLY ON INTERNATIONAL TIGER’S DAY AWAKENS THE PRESIDIANS

Global Tiger Day, often called as International Tiger’s Day, is an annual celebration to raise awareness for tiger conservation. The goal of this day is to promote a global system for protecting the natural habitats of tigers and to raise public awareness and support for tiger conservation issues. Recently, students of grade 2 & 6 addressed the same issue in a special assembly through performances on the topic ‘Save Tigers’. Students enthusiastically performed and presented the dramatization of celebrating a birthday party in a jungle and highlighted how the tigers in the world are getting extinct. They also shared the importance of tigers in our ecosystem and a few methods through which we can easily contribute towards the cause.

MADHUBANI ART INTRIGUES YOUNG ARTISTS IN ART & CRAFT ACTIVITY

Art has power to transform, to illuminate, to educate, inspire and motivate.  It is a form of human expression. 
One such expression of art was picked up by our students of grade 6, related to the folk art of India in an Art & Craft activity. Through this activity, our students came to know about the large range of decorative media including paper and ink. We picked up Madhubani Art which is practised in the Mithila region of Bihar in India and Nepal. It is done with fingers, brushes, nib-pens, etc. Our students enjoyed painting the scenes of nature, birds, animals and even geometrical designs. Apart from the Madhubani art, the young artists also picked up topics like landscapes & village scenes and created masterpieces with oil pastels, pencil colours, etc. This activity provided ample opportunities to the Presidians to learn shapes, colours & traditions while exploring the world of art.

SPECIAL ASSEMBLY: PRESIDIANS PAY A TRIBUTE TO REAL LIFE HEROES

“When people are determined, they can overcome anything.” - Nelson Mandela

On the occasion of Youth skill day &  International Nelson Mandela day, the students of grade 2 conducted a special assembly on ‘Real superheroes who have changed our community’. There is a long list of leaders like Nelson Mandela who have dedicated all their life for making the world a better place where everyone can live peacefully. The students talked about the contributions of great Indian and International leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, Mother Teresa, Swami Vivekananda and Nelson Mandela himself. They glorified the contributions of the great African leader against apartheid in Africa by building a government of national unity. The students were truly inspired by the values and the deeds of these superheroes.

YOUNG ENVIRONMENTALISTS GO GREEN AT PLANTATION DRIVE

Be Eco Friendly, Go Green.

With a hope for a green tomorrow, the budding environmentalists of grade 3 recently participated in a plantation drive. The students planted saplings and were educated about the importance of growing saplings and how plants purify the air & contribute in keeping our environment clean. They were encouraged to grow at least one sapling at their home as well. The Presidians also took a pledge for a greener environment for a better tomorrow.

POOL PARTY: PRESIDIANS ENJOY BEING COOL BY THE POOL!

Keep It cool and beat the heat,
Dance in rain and enjoy the retreat.

Nothing can keep our tiny tots of grades nursery to 2 from having a merry time, not even the soaring temperatures. Presidium recently organised a fun pool party for them wherein the students had a blast as they took a dip in the cool water. They also enjoyed rain dance with their peers and made refreshing summer memories to cherish. It was a wonderful sight to witness them dressed in colourful costumes, making the most of this cool water activity despite the blazing sun!
