Raksha Bandhan is one of the most endearing ways to celebrate the bond between brothers and sisters. To strengthen this bond the occasion of Raksha Bandhan was celebrated with joy and vigour by the students of Presidium Dwarka 16B. The students from across the grades tied colourful rakhi on the wrist of the school’s Chairman G.S. Matharoo sir, an educationist and a visionary. The students shared their thoughts about the occasion and also presented a speech and a song dedicated to the bond of love and trust of a brother and sister. Students received a token of love as a present from the Chairman, G.S. Matharoo sir, on this auspicious occasion. The whole school was filled with festivity and joy on this special day.

Raksha Bandhan signifies the bond of love and care between a brother and sister. A special assembly was organised by the students of grade Nursery & 5 to celebrate the auspicious festival of Raksha Bandhan. The assembly commenced with the thought of the day, followed by an enthralling skit that depicted the historical significance of the festival. Students were brimming with confidence as they played their part with utmost conviction. A scintillating folk dance performed by them accentuate the festive spirit at the school.  The young Presidians then shared their views on this pious festival through poem recitation and delivery speeches. The aim of the assembly was to strengthen the bond of love and instil the values of love and harmony among the young and budding Presidians.

YOUNG LEADERS FIGHT BATTLE AGAINST DENGUE & MALARIA

A special assembly on ‘Awareness of Dengue and Malaria’ was recently conducted by the students of grade 6. The monsoon season is a very relevant time to talk about the menace of Dengue and Malaria as they spread more during this time. The assembly began with a short speech on the two diseases and their impact on the morbidity and mortality rates. It was followed by a skit which highlighted the causes, effects and preventive measures of dengue and malaria. The exposition dealt with the causative agents of the diseases, female Aedes and Anopheles mosquito respectively. The skit also showcased a middle class family suffering from the evils of the dreadful diseases. The assembly was a wakeup call to students to apply theoretical knowledge practically in their real lives and to always be updated with preventive measures to keep away from these diseases.

PRESIDIANS OFFER SPECIAL PRAYERS ON THE OCCASION OF EID

Eid is one such festival, a festival of prayers, joy, happiness, sacrifice and brotherhood. The students of grade Nursery of Presidium Dwarka 16B celebrated Eid-Ul-Adha with great fervour and excitement. The assembly commenced with the students sharing their views and the festivities associated with the festival. The stories and rituals associated with the occasion were displayed with a spectacular drama by the students. The programme came to an end with the fantabulous dance performance and their warm greetings of ‘Eid Mubarak’. The assembly was appreciated for spreading the message of love, peace and friendship.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATED AT PRESIDIUM WITH ZEAL AND SPIRIT

‘Patriotism is your conviction that the country is superior to all others because you were born in it.’
With this vigour, the Presidians of Dwarka 16B celebrated the 72nd Independence Day. The hoisting of the national flag commenced the celebration. The students accentuated the essence of freedom by singing the national anthem. This was followed by a pledge to free India from the shackles of poverty, corruption, terrorism and casteism. The students as the soldiers of the nation and the leaders of tomorrow, gave energetic performances involving the audience in the patriotic sway.  The audience were left enthralled with a powerful and energetic drama performance. The celebrations ended by remembering the martyrs of the nation & their sacrifices and a pledge to take their legacy forward.

PMUN 2018: LEADERS OF TOMORROW DELIBERATE TODAY!

The students of Dwarka 16B enthusiastically participated in the Presidium Model United Nations. The three days of the event were days of intense activity as 50 delegates used all their diplomacy and ingenious methods of reasoning and argument to defend their country’s policies around the theme ‘Youth Empowerment. From the inauguration ceremony, which was a wonderful combination of entertaining performances, to the last debates, the conference was witness to an amazing spectacle of tireless enthusiasm. All participants slowly overcame their initial hitches as the debates slowly assumed a smooth flow. Under the proper guidance of the Executive Boards, all the committees made great headway into their respective topics and productive & constructive debates seemed to be paving the way for genuine solutions to the problems under discussion. The most important activity of the MUN, formulation of draft resolutions was also breathtaking. The overall experience was immensely enriching for the students, both in terms of gaining knowledge and making friends from all corners of the city. The conference also gave them a platform to explore their potential as future leaders of the progressive world.

A warm smile is the universal language of kindness.
Performing acts of kindness and being generous brings happiness because it gives individuals a feeling of purpose and meaning, a sense that they are actually doing something significant. In order to enhance our students’ socio-emotional skills, ‘Spread a smile’ activity was organized for the Presidians of grades Nursery and Prep. In this activity, the teachers made the environment humorous by cracking jokes in front of the class and spread the message of being kind, generous, happy and lively. Students gifted smileys to their friends and the people around spreading the message of staying happy and positive. It was a joyous recreational activity for the students as they bubbled up with enthusiasm and energy throughout the day.

We, at Presidium, believe that every child is unique and possesses many qualities and regular appreciation of those qualities & skills always enhances the confidence of the students and motivates them to strive for more. In order to acknowledge their innate qualities, Appreciation Day was  recently organized in Presidium school for the students of grades Nursery to 3. It was a memorable day for children as well as for the teachers, as students were felicitated with certificates by the Academic Heads.  Followed by the certificate ceremony, pictures were clicked to freeze their moments of success forever. Students were thrilled to receive such recognition and expressed gratitude to their teachers for their constant support.

BUILDING AN UNDERSTANDING ABOUT NUMERICS THROUGH DIENES BLOCKS

Building an understanding about numerics is an essential aspect that needs to be developed in the early years of children. Playing number games and giving counting exposure helps in strengthening the mathematical skills of children. Keeping the same in mind, the students of grade 2 were recently given an exposure to construct numbers using the Dienes Blocks. Base Ten Blocks or Dienes Blocks are a mathematical manipulatives used by students to learn basic mathematical concepts including addition, subtraction, place value and counting. The young learners were given number cards and they read the three digit number written on it and represented the same using the Dienes Blocks. This helped them understand the value of the number they were dealing with. They got a practical experience of what a number looks like in the real world. The activity based on, learning by doing helped children in developing a more holistic understanding about the concept of mathematics.
